Why I Started the Lineage Studio

I started The Lineage Studio because I saw a gap in the world of genealogy.
Many people spend years collecting incredible family history on platforms like Ancestry or FamilySearch
— but have no clear way to share it beyond a login screen.
Photos remain scattered across phones and boxes. Stories are never written down. Elders’ memories fade before they’re preserved. Even dedicated researchers often lack the time, tools, or design skills needed to turn their work into something polished and presentable.
I founded The Lineage Studio to bridge that gap — by helping families preserve their history in formats that are easy to share, meaningful to revisit, and worthy of being passed down.

My Approach

My work is informed by over 20 years of hands-on genealogy research experience, combined with thoughtful storytelling, visual design, and ethical documentation practices. Depending on the project, we may: Review and verify existing research. Clearly label unverified family information when included. Create narrative biographies and timelines. Enhance and organize historical photos.
Design finished projects intended for reading, sharing, and remembrance. Every project is human-reviewed, handled with care, and treated as personal history — not data.

How Family History Books Are Created

Family history books are built from verified genealogical research. If you already have a family tree or research, it is reviewed for accuracy before writing begins. If research is incomplete or unverified, a research plan or subscription is required first. Ongoing research may produce short narrative biographies and summaries that later become part of a full book. Final book scope depends on the quality and availability of records. The final book includes a digital print-ready PDF/eBook. Professional printing is available for an additional cost

What exactly do you create?

I create custom family history books that turn genealogical research into a readable, organized story.
These books combine narrative writing, timelines, family trees, photos, and historical context into a format designed to be read, shared, and preserved, not just stored online.

Is this a family tree or a book?

This is a book, not just a chart. Family trees may be included as visuals, but the focus is on:
• Who your ancestors were
• How they lived
• How their lives fit into historical and cultural context
If you’re primarily looking for a chart or visual tree, that is offered as a separate service.

What sources can you work with?

I can work with: Ancestry, MyHeritage, and FamilySearch trees, GEDCOM files, Historical documents and records, Photographs, Oral histories and family notes. Client-provided research is not assumed to be accurate unless reviewed or researched as part of the project.

Do I need to already have a family tree or research?

No — but research is required to create an accurate book. Clients fall into one of three situations:
1️⃣You already have research → A Research Review & Verification step is required before writing begins.
2️⃣You have partial or uncertain research → A Research Review & Verification is required to assess what can be used.
3️⃣You have little or no research → A research plan or ongoing research subscription is required before book creation.
This ensures your book is meaningful, accurate, and responsibly documented.

Can you include DNA results?

Yes, if desired. DNA results can be incorporated and explained in plain language, including ethnicity estimates, migration patterns, and how DNA fits alongside documented research. DNA is always presented as supporting evidence, not as a replacement for records.

What is the Research Review & Verification?

This step evaluates existing family research before it’s used in a book or family tree.
The service requires a $99 deposit (credited to your final book price) and it includes:
• Review of client-provided trees, notes, or GEDCOM files
• Identification of gaps, inconsistencies, or conflicts
• Assessment of what is usable versus what requires correction
• Clear recommendations for next steps
After review, projects are classified as:

⚠️ Proceed with disclaimers
❌ Research required before continuing
This step protects both you and the integrity of the final book.

What if I want to include unverified family information?

If you choose to include information that has not been independently verified, it will be clearly labeled as unverified in the final book.
The Lineage Studio is not responsible for inaccuracies in information that has not been researched or verified as part of the agreed scope of work.

Is this written by AI?

Modern tools may assist with organizing or drafting large volumes of information, but every project is curated, reviewed, and edited by a human.
No book is delivered without:
• Human oversight
• Fact-checking
• Client review and approval.

Why not just use Ancestry?

Ancestry and MyHeritage give you access to records.
But they don’t:
• Do the research for you, saving your time
• resolve conflicting evidence
• interpret what documents mean
• write the story
• produce a finished book your family can share

How long does it take?

Timelines vary based on scope, research needs, and complexity.
Most family history book projects take several weeks from start to final delivery, especially for multi-generation or research-heavy projects..

Do you offer printed family history books?

Yes. I offer custom printed family history books for an additional cost. The cost is dependent on the style, volume and format. Options may include hardcover or softcover books with different trim sizes, paper types, and binding styles, depending on your preferences and the project’s scope. All books come with digital PDF &/or eBook versions.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on: Project size and number of generations. Research needs & level of customization
Most family history book projects begin in the $199–$299 range, with additional costs for research, review, printing or expanded scope if needed.

Is my family information kept private?

Yes. All family data is treated as confidential. Your research and personal information are never shared publicly, reused, or published without your explicit permission.

Genealogical Research Disclaimer

Genealogical research depends on the availability, accuracy, and completeness of historical records.
Results cannot be guaranteed, and findings reflect information available at the time research is conducted.

Use of Client-Provided Research

Client-provided trees, GEDCOM files, notes, or documents are not assumed to be accurate unless independently reviewed or researched by The Lineage Studio. If unverified research is included at the client’s request, it will be clearly noted as unverified in the final deliverable. The Lineage Studio is not responsible for inaccuracies in client-supplied information that has not been independently researched or verified.

Research Review Requirement

Family history books and family tree charts require verified research.
If research was not conducted by The Lineage Studio, a Research Review & Verification step is required before final deliverables are created.

Authorization to Research

By engaging services, clients authorize The Lineage Studio to conduct genealogical research on their behalf. Passwords are never required. Clients may share access through guest invitations, GEDCOM exports, record links, or document uploads at their discretion.

Subscriptions & Cancellations

Subscriptions provide a defined amount of research time each month.
Unused time does not roll over.
Subscriptions may be canceled at any time; completed research time is non-refundable.

Photo Restoration & Upscaling

Old photographs carry more than images — they carry memory, identity, and connection. Over time, those photos fade, discolor, blur, or become damaged through handling and age. My photo restoration service is designed to preserve the original character of the image while gently restoring clarity and detail. I perform careful restoration of aging photographs, including color correction, optional colorization, and resolution enhancement for print and digital use. Each image is reviewed and refined by hand to preserve realism and likeness. This service is great for.
